"Art is a lie that brings us closer to the truth"
Pilar Alonso graduated in Fine Arts from the University of Seville. As a scholar pensioner in the Paular de Segovia, she studied postgraduate studies with a grant from the Pedro Barrié de la Maza Foundation in the Städelschule in Frankfurt with the artist Per Kirkeby. Throughout her career, she has exhibited in galleries and showplaces of Spain and Germany like the Kunstraum Bethanien of Berlin, the foundation Nova Caixa Galicia of Vigo, the Benot Gallery of Cadiz, the Gallery Barbara von Stechow of Frankfurt am Main, the Ana Gallery Vilaseco de A Coruña, the Rivadavia hall of the Diputación de Cádiz, the Cruz Herrera Museum of La Linea de la Concepción or the Castle of Santa Catalina in Cadiz, among other places.
Especially sensitive to synergies with other arts and creative expressions, she has developed scene-graphic projects such as the piece "Corpos son creación" of the company Experimenta Danza, the Extraordinary Concert 40th Anniversary: Cycle of Fellows or the concert of Cristina Pato opening the Seminar The 5th EFC Summer Academy on Philanthropy, the latter at Vigo’s venues of the Pedro Barrié de la Maza Foundation. She grants works in collections such as the Pedro Barrié de la Maza Foundation, Nova Caixa Galicia Foundation or Caja de Segovia.
After "La Diva", an artistic-narrative project that includes a series of large drawings, installations and paintings begun during her residence at the Glogauair center in Berlin, she now works in The Cabinet of Candida Standwick. A kind of spin-off that starts from the motives of the previous series to raise a debate about privacy, masks and identity. In 2012, she published her first artist book around 'The Diva'.
